Volunteer Spotlight: Suzy Faulkner
Throughout her 20 years volunteering with Komen Central Indiana, Suzy Faulkner has been involved with a multitude of projects and events including Race for the Cure, where she served on the executive committee for more than 15 years and designs the survivor medals for the event each year. Suzy has also recently been involved with Project Pink, a fashion show fundraising event.
Suzy got involved with Komen Central Indiana about two decades ago when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She was introduced to Komen through a friend, and said the second she became involved, she was hooked. Suzy is now a stage 4 metastatic breast cancer patient, and continues to spread her incredibly positive personality to everyone she meets.
Of all the projects Suzy has been part of during her time with Komen Central Indiana, she says the Pink Parade at Race for the Cure has been one of her favorites.
“It is such an emotional and empowering experience to stand with that group of women,” Suzy said. “Seeing all of the pink during the parade makes you realize that you are not alone in this fight.”
Suzy is getting ready to walk the runway in this year’s Project Pink fashion show on August 31st. She is excited to continue furthering her volunteer experience with Komen. The Komen Central Indiana team is blessed to have such an amazing volunteer.
From the whole Komen Central Indiana family, thank you for your contributions! You truly make a difference.
