Volunteer Spotlight: Jennifer Erner
Jennifer Erner has been involved with Komen Central Indiana as a volunteer for the last five years. She has been a member of the Pink Honor Roll, which recognizes the top 100 individual Race for the Cure® fundraisers, for four years. She has also been involved with Pink Tie Ball, Race for the Cure, and has served on the grant review panel for two years.
Jennifer’s initial connection to the Komen mission came through her best friend and college roommate, who lost her battle with breath cancer at the age of 30. She continues to volunteer with Komen so she can see the positive impact the organization makes.
“When I saw how amazing of an impact the organization has on the community, I just had to participate,” Jennifer said.
Of all the projects she’s assisted with during her time as a volunteer with Komen, Jennifer says Pink Tie Ball, a gala fundraising event, has been one of her favorites. Dollars raised at this annual event impact the programs and research Komen Central Indiana is able to fund year-round. It also honors local breast cancer survivors and recognizes the Pink Tie Guys.
“I love watching everyone get all dressed up! It’s great to see the survivors looking so amazing,” Jennifer said.
Jennifer says she has loved being a part of the Komen Central Indiana family over these five years. She has enjoyed meeting many amazing volunteers and hopes to continue her work with Komen, as she believes it has made her a better person.
From the whole Komen Central Indiana family, thank you for your contributions! You truly make a difference.
