Jacalyn SproullAt 61 years young, and as a breast cancer survivor since 2000 with a re-occurrence in 2012 now classified as stage 4, Jacalyn has weathered it all. Jacalyn gets her strength from her devoted husband Wayne, daughters Jenny and Sara, son-in-laws Ryan and Jason and her seven grandchildren. Previosuly, she was an occupational therapist at Gentiva Home Health where she enjoyed assisting the elderly. Jacalyn is grateful for the opportunity to help improve the quality of their lives in any way she can. In her free time Jacalyn enjoys running, hiking and just about any outdoor activity. She has completed six marathons and countless short distance races. Cancer might have slowed her down, but Jacalyn doesn’t let it prevent her from her love of running and enjoyment of the great outdoors. Jacalyn ran in the last Komen Central Indiana Race for the Cure and finished third overall survivor. She recently underwent brain surgery to remove a tumor followed with radiation. So the tough fight is just beginning, but she credits the power of exercise and staying fit as one of the main reasons she has been able to fight cancer as long as she has. Jacalyn is honored to represent Komen Central Indiana and hopes to inspire others to believe in the fight and never, ever give up.
