Danielle Derrico websiteDanielle graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelors in Marketing in 2008 and went on to receive a Masters in Accounting from IUPUI in 2012. She has spent the last 4 years working in public accounting and earned her CPA license last April. In October 2013, Danielle found a lump in her right breast and immediately Googled what it might be. Breast cancer was on her mind because her mom had been diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer three months prior, but she never thought it was possible to actually get breast cancer in her 20s.  In November 2013, at the age of 27, Danielle was diagnosed with stage 2 invasive ductal carcinoma. After genetic tests came back negative, Danielle had a lumpectomy quickly followed by 8 rounds of chemotherapy and 33 rounds of radiation. Treatment did not slow her down as she continued to work full time and live her normal life. For awhile all she could think was “whoa, I have cancer” but now all she thinks is “wow, I beat cancer!”  Her doctors now consider her cancer-free and her focus has shifted to promoting breast health awareness, specifically to women in their 20s.
