Age: 50
Date of diagnosis: May 2014
Diagnosis: Stage 1b Invasive Ductal breast cancer

Nancy is a member of the Indy SurviveOars Dragon Boat Racing Team. She loves to travel, photography and spending time with her grandchildren. She is married and has two children who are both engaged to be married.

Nancy’s journey with breast cancer has been a blessing in disguise. It has taught her to slow down and appreciate the life God has given her. She would have never met some of the most wonderful and beautiful people, and experienced some of the most beautiful moments, if it had not been for breast cancer. Nancy’s advice is “don’t wait for the storm to pass go out and live your life. Dance in the rain. Enjoy life, because you only have one life to live and you never know when you will be given that diagnosis when your going in for what you think is just a normal exam.”

Nancy’s takeaway message for others:

“Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass. It’s learning how to dance in the rain.” -Vivian Greene.
