Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient Mary Jo Reed
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we were forced to cancel this year’s Pink Ribbon Celebration. We will be honoring our volunteers at our Breast Health Conference in October, but we don’t want to wait that long to celebrate them. For the next few months, we’ll be sharing a biography of one of our volunteers in each of our monthly newsletters, and on the Komen Central Indiana website. This month we are honoring our lifetime achievement award honoree Mary Jo Reed.
Mary Jo (MJ) was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2010, three years after her mom had the disease. MJ has worked tirelessly to support Komen and fight breast cancer. MJ was a Project Pink model and has been a top Race for the Cure fundraiser for many years, raising over $100,000 to fund the fight against breast cancer. MJ served on and now chairs the Ambassador program which, each year, identifies survivors/thrivers willing to share their personal breast cancer journeys to help promote Komen and educate the public.
