Jennifer Spees – 2015 Ambassador
Jennifer teaches kindergarten at Our Lady of The Greenwood School. She has two daughters, Madison and Katie, as well as her husband, Tom. She also has two cats, a dog and a potbelly pig at her home in Martinsville, Indiana. In her spare time, Jennifer is a passionate and avid runner.
In August 2013, Jennifer went in for her annual mammogram expecting no surprises. Two days later, she was called back for an ultrasound and biopsy. Five days later, Jennifer’s world seemingly collapsed as she received her breast cancer diagnosis, invasive ductal carcinoma. She received six treatments of chemotherapy, followed by a lumpectomy and 16 rounds of radiation. Jennifer was unsure that she could battle the cancer, but had an incredible support system to help her through her journey.
Despite ongoing treatment, Jennifer completed a marathon. Her daughters and husband were her biggest cheerleaders through her battle. Jennifer’s daughters also encouraged her to take to the runway, where Jennifer modeled in the 2014 Project Pink Fashion Show.
Jennifer’s takeaway message for others:
“I appreciate all the little things more, and thank God daily for another chance.”
