Komen Central Indiana convenes a group of current grant recipients and others active in the breast health arena in Indiana every other month for Breast Health Collaborative meetings. These meetings provide a chance for agency representatives to network with one another, share ideas and best practices, and participate in educational sessions.

  • In August 2016, Megan Tucker with the ISU Genetic Counseling Center at Union Hospital spoke about genetic counseling and genetic testing for breast cancer.
  • In October 2016, Shirley Mertz, president of the Metastatic Breast Cancer Network, discussed metastatic disease, focusing on patient needs and advocating for more research and advancements around this type of cancer.
  • In December 2016, Lisa Wood with Hancock Regional Hospital discussed tomosynthesis, or 3D mammography. Learn more.

The next Breast Health Collaborative meeting will be Wednesday, February 22 at the Komen Central Indiana office. Dr. Anna Maria Storniolo will be discussing screening guidelines for high-risk patients.
